Which Lancaster This Is

This is Lancaster, California: population 173,516 at the 2020 Census, incorporated on 22 November 1977, in the Antelope Valley in northern Los Angeles County, at 2,359 feet in the western Mojave Desert. The Kern County line is nine miles north, Palmdale is immediately south, and the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is about 20 miles west.

It is not Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which dominates most searches for cabinet makers named Lancaster. It is not Lancaster, Ohio, Lancaster, South Carolina or Lancaster, Texas. And we are not connected in any way to Lancaster Custom Cabinets and Closets Inc., a separate and unrelated company in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, whose name is close to ours.

What We Do

Thirteen services, each with its own page rather than a line in a list: custom cabinets, kitchen cabinets, islands, bathroom vanities, built-ins and media walls, closets and pantries, garage cabinets, laundry and mudroom, wine and bar cabinets, hardware, doors and drawer fronts, refacing and installation.

How a Quote Works

You send the room and the town through the contact form. Somebody measures the room on site, properly, with a laser rather than a builder floor plan. You get a written, itemised scope and a number, with nothing to sign on the day.

That is not generosity, it is how California requires it to work. Business and Professions Code section 7159 requires a home improvement contract over $500 to be in writing and signed by both parties before work commences, and that includes change orders. Section 7159.5 caps the deposit at $1,000 or 10 percent of the contract amount, whichever is less, and bars any further payment exceeding the value of work performed or material delivered. There is normally a three business day right to cancel, or five for a senior citizen, with one real exception: a contract negotiated at the contractor's place of business may carry no cancellation window at all.

All of that is set out with the statutory wording on the permits and licensing guide, because a homeowner who knows those three rules is much harder to take advantage of.

What You Will Be Told, Including When It Costs Us

• If refacing is the right answer rather than replacement, you will be told that, because a quote for the wrong work helps nobody.
• If new doors alone will do it, you will be told that too, and it is cheaper again than refacing.
• If hardware alone fixes the actual complaint, that is the cheapest job we do and it is still the honest answer.
• If the job needs a permit, you will be told which of the three building departments issues it before anything is drawn.
• If a wall turns out worse than the site survey showed, you will hear about it then, not in a change order later.
• Every price on this site names the published page it came from, and none of them is presented as a Lancaster specific quote, because no such published figure exists.

Why the Local Detail Matters

Most cabinet advice online is written for a national audience, and in this valley several parts of it are simply wrong. The USDA Forest Service Wood Handbook sets the recommended interior moisture content for the dry southwestern zone at an average of 6 percent, with individual pieces between 4 and 9, against 8 percent for most of the United States and 11 percent for damp warm coastal areas. Lancaster averages 6.81 inches of precipitation a year and Palmdale 5.90.

Cabinets built for a national default and installed here have to lose width, and they take it out of glue lines and finish. That is why every service page on this site asks the same question about floating door panels, and why the materials guide and the wood species guide exist at all. It is genuinely different here, and pretending otherwise produces kitchens that split.

What This Site Does Not Do

There are no customer reviews on this site, because there are none we can honestly show you. There are no star ratings, no invented testimonials and no named author with invented credentials. There are no before and after photographs of other people's jobs presented as ours. Everything you can see is either a published figure with its source, a statute quoted from the code, or a licensed photograph credited on the credits page.

That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight. Fabricated reviews are illegal as well as dishonest, and a site that invents them is telling you something about how it will handle your kitchen.
